Do I need additional hardware or software to use DentalTwin?

No. DentalTwin is cloud-based, meaning everything happens within our web portal. No software installation is needed – just an internet-enabled device and IO scans.

What exactly are Eggshell provisionals?

Eggshell provisionals (also known as "pre-operative provisionals") are thin-walled temporary crowns/bridges (0.3–0.6 mm) that are created before tooth preparation based on an intraoral scan of the current clinical situation – usually via 3D printing or milling. The term "Eggshell" refers to the delicate wall thickness of these provisional crowns (with a hollow space for filling). They are digitally fabricated (printed or milled) and, after preparation, filled intraorally with composite and temporarily cemented with minimal effort. The pontics are already pre-formed and do not require additional processing.

How are Eggshells manufactured?

An intraoral scan is taken before preparation, extraction, or implantation. This scan is uploaded to the DentalTwin website, along with the desired specifications for the provisional restorations (crowns, pontics). The Eggshells are generated using DentalTwin’s AI-driven tooth setup and delivered as STL files, ready for direct 3D printing or milling – no additional software is required. They can be produced in-house (in the practice or lab) or via an external milling center.

What are the advantages of Eggshells compared to conventional mock-ups?

How is the clinical application carried out?

The Eggshell is filled with a self-curing composite and seated directly onto the prepared or unprepared dentition – similar to a silicone key mock-up, but more precise and time-efficient.

How is correct occlusion ensured in edentulous or partially edentulous jaws?

Based on the remaining teeth, our AI first reconstructs the full arch. Occlusion is then calculated based on this setup. It should, of course, always be checked and, if necessary, adjusted by the treating dentist.

Is DentalTwin compatible with other dental software?

Yes! DentalTwin provides open STL files that can be used in any CAD software available on the market.

How do I sign in?

How do I upload scans?

After registration, you will receive an activation link via email – please confirm your registration.
Log in to the portal.
Click on “New Case”.
Select the desired product and click on it.
Click on “Browse” next to the jaw you want to upload, or simply drag and drop the scan file to the correct position.
Position the scans according to the provided template.
Enter the case or patient ID.
If you're submitting an Eggshell case, also specify: Which teeth are to be extracted Which teeth are already missing Which teeth will serve as abutments (according to the FDI tooth numbering system)
Click “Submit”.

What are the requirements for IO scans?

The jaw should be scanned completely, up to the tuberosities. For best results, at least 2 fully preserved teeth per jaw are required. These can be prepared or extracted after the scan.

Can I give preferences for the tooth setup?

You can adjust the setup freely in your own CAD software. However, customization within our process is currently not available.

What should I do if the AI result is unsatisfying?

If the AI result doesn't meet expectations, possible causes include:

Incomplete or faulty scan
Detected prepped teeth
Fully edentulous jaw

Since our AI currently cannot fully process such cases, please submit a new, complete scan.

If the result is inaccurate for other reasons, you can manually edit or regenerate it. Alternatively, you can send it to our DentalTwin team for refinement.

Questions About Pricing and Payment

How much does DentalTwin cost? Are there any recurring fees?

All prices are quoted as net prices, excluding VAT.
The following rates apply for one-time purchases of DentalTwin services:

For virtual setups and wax-ups, the price remains fixed per jaw, regardless of how many teeth are missing or digitally reconstructed by DentalTwin. The conversion rate is 1 EUR = 1 DTC (DentalTwin Credit). Optional Subscription: End customers can optionally purchase DentalTwin Credits via a subscription plan and benefit from volume-based pricing. Annual Billing Bonus: Customers who choose annual billing receive one free month per year.

How can I pay?

Payments are processed through Stripe, which supports a wide range of global and local payment methods.
